Kristina Estle, from the Undergroud Railaroad Museum in Flushing, Ohio, will present “Important Black Women in American History” February 10, at 1:00 p.m. at the Library as part of the Explore series. It will spotlight Black women who were leaders and activists in American History.
The presentation will include the following women: Phillis Wheatley, the first Black female poet to have her work published; Sojourner Truth, an abolitionist and suffragist; Harriet Tubman, an enslaved woman, suffragist and conductor on the Underground Railroad; Rosa Parks, Bessie Coleman, and others.
Ms. Estle has volunteered at the Museum for 8 years and served as its Director for over 6 years.
This program is part of the Explore series’ year-long celebration of America 250. The Library is located at 96 Home Ave., Woodsfield, Ohio.
